ETS is a non-formal educational approach that works with sport and physical activities and which refers to the development of key competences of individuals and groups to contribute to personal development and sustainable social transformation.

Providing individuals, especially marginalized groups such as migrants and refugees, with the opportunities to participate in leadership roles and decision-making processes, thereby enhancing their confidence and agency.

Grassroots Sports:

Local, community-level sports initiatives that emphasize widespread participation and inclusivity. These activities are foundational for integrating Third Country Nationals by offering accessible and engaging platforms for interaction and mutual understanding.

Inclusion:

The practice of making all members of society feel valued and included, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances. This involves creating opportunities for everyone to participate fully in all aspects of societal life, including sports and community activities.


Integration:

The process by which individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly migrants and refugees, are incorporated into the social, cultural, and civic life of their new community. It's a two-way street that involves adjustments by both newcomers and the host society, with sports serving as a bridge to understanding and acceptance.

Non-Formal Education:

Any organized, systematic, educational activity carried on outside the framework of the formal system to provide selected types of learning to particular subgroups in the population, adults as well as children  This approach is crucial for engaging young people and promoting integration through sports.

Social Cohesion:

The strength of relationships and the sense of solidarity among members of a community. It refers to the extent to which individuals are connected to one another and share common values. Sports can significantly enhance social cohesion by bringing people together and fostering a shared sense of identity and belonging.
